25 Randoms...

Remember when everyone was filling out those 25 random things about themselves? Well... i never did cause i couldn't think of 25 random things about myself. But over time I did... so here they are:

1. In one year I graduated from college, moved home, planned a wedding, got married, moved to Idaho, quit 2 jobs, got 1 job, and somehow i'm still alive.

2. I love relay-races, and I mean reallly love them.

3. I love traditions

4. I lieu of this, I asked my parents to have an easter egg hunt for us "kids" when I went home this year. My siblings probably weren't as stoked as I was. My parents probably weren't either. But i was ecstatic.

5. I still think I have about 8 more hours of Prim-o roller blading at a roller-rink left in me. (I swear that I was stopped before my prime).

6. Getting older makes me sad sometimes. Not cause I don’t want to be old, but it means all those big life events I looked forward to are over. (I know, more will come).

7. I used to be a huge fan of JTT, but only secretly. Instead of hanging up posters out of Tiger Beat on my wall, I just put pictures of him in my wallet.

8. I dont have a favorite color.

9. I'm DEATHLY afraid of mice for no apparent reason.

10. I'm really bad at taking pictures.

11. I think I’d be a great sitcom writer

12. I generally have whatever I’m thinking written all over my face (although sometimes it’s interpreted wrong).

13. I love oldies—Especially the Beach Boys

14. Cutting onions makes me cry, a lot.

15. I have a phobia of tan-lines.

16. I wish I read more.

17. I rarely eat vegetables.

18. I have a terrible memory. You could be recapping a movie with me that I just finished watching and most likely I’d forget the scenes you’re talking about.

19. I wrote a letter to the Kroc center asking them to create a flag football women’s league.

20. I know how to “keep the books” for baseball/softball.

21. I wish I knew how to surf.

22. I took gymnastics when I was in 7th grade with a bunch of 3rd graders. I got invited to their birthday parties. I never went though.

23. Ross is my favorite “friend”.

24. Denny’s and Perkins are some of my favorite restaurants.

25. I hated more than anything, posing like a tiger in our sorority pictures.

Vacuums

I hate our vacuum. I feel like i can say i hate it since it's only an object and not a person.
It is terrible. Everytime i go to vacuum stairs, or lift it up, everything that i just sucked up pours out onto the floor. Today was the last straw. (is that the phrase?). I tried to give it one more chance to redeem itself before being sent to the dump, and it poured rocks/dirt/crumbs all over the newly washed and swept entryway. So safe to say it's days are numbered.

So what i need from anyone/everyone who reads this, is vacuum advice. Anyone have one the love or one they hated? I just want some unofficial consumer reports before adam and i make a decision probably this weekend...

and because i dislike it so much, i'll tell you the brand it was, because i think the public should be made aware of a bad product. (unless a year is a good life-span for a vacuum, then it might be fine).
It's the En Vision Wide Glide by Dirt Devil.

Nieces and Nephews

Happy birthday/week guys! Can't believe you're getting so old, that makes me feel old too. See you in 2 weeks!

If you know me, you know my obsession with straws. It's kind of weird I guess, but I love these little guys. They make drinking so much more enjoyable, an experience if you will. No chance of ice falling at your face, very little movement required to take a sip (which means you can still be laying down to do so), and it makes any drink you're drinking like a little store bought treat. (note: they should not be used in cans, they make everything foamy).

But unfortunately I seem to have uncovered a downside to straws. They have effected my straw-less drinking ability. I discovered this a while ago but was convinced of it's effects the other day at the gym when i repeatedly poured water down the front of my shirt while trying to drink from my nalgene.

Solution options: pack a straw in my gym bag, or be intentional about reteaching myself to use a cup.

twittering tweets...

so twitter is relatively new to the technology world. at least for people like myself.

I have mixed emotions about the whole deal.

here's my breakdown:
it's ok if your famous (kind of) and do cool things.
it's not ok if your the average joe and do the same things as me.
it's ok if you say funny things.
it's not ok if youre giving me a play-by-play of your life. no one cares that you just brushed your teeth.
it's ok to have people take pictures of you (again kind of).
it's not ok to take them yourself and try to make it look like you didnt.
it's ok if you're trying to network and use it for business reasons.
it's not ok if you're adding one more way for strangers to track your life.

so overall i'm generally opposed to it i guess. I sometimes dont even like getting texts from my friends (note: only when it'd be a conversation way easier to have over the phone.), so why set myself up to be bombarded with texts from strangers. However, i did find myself thinking it'd be funny to subscribe to ellen's twitter. But i'd still feel like a creep.

goodbye living room workouts...

and HELLO Kroc Center!

FINALLY, the Kroc center is done. It's what I've been waiting for since I got here. I got my membership today and immediately proceeded to the locker room. It was fantastic! the machines have CABLE, the pool has a slide AND a lazy river, and there's a coffee shop just as you walk in.
So I worked out, deciding to fore go the ipod in exchange for TBS and HGTV (and a hint of lifetime), and had a great workout. The machine even talks to you during your show at the top of the screen saying things like "dont forget to work your arms." and "try only using your lowerbody", and I still dont miss a second of fresh prince. The work out flew by.
During my cool down/exploration lap of the upstairs I began dreaming of all the activities i could participate in... spinning, basketball, swimming, rock climbing?, it could be a whole new me.... dont be surprised if the next time i see you i'm talking about my upcoming climbing trip or my next triathalon. (then again, dont be surprised if i'm not, i can be quite idealistic sometimes).

bottom line is, i can put my workout tapes/equipment upstairs and away, no longer in my living room--no more being awkward. And I only have to whip out the FIRM if i want to.

(between this and forever opening, my life just got exponentially better)

Odwalla

(i probably should have moved the beer out of this picture), but have you ever had odwalla? it's delicious, and healthy--that never happens to me. Adam and i love it so much that sometimes we splurge and get two from costco and then label them so we dont have to share. this might sounds selfish, but we're both ok with it, and sometimes odwalla is worth being selfish about.

birthday boy

My husband is 25 and three days old today. We had a little BBQ at our house on Friday for him. There was cake (ice cream, made by cassi), friends (some not pictured: nick smoot and adam claybaugh) and presents (lures, hookah, black sheep, olive garden, beer, cabelas, bass masters, cornhole, movie tickets, candy...).

...And now from birthday prep to mothers day prep:)
